We’re delighted to report that recent weeks have seen more exciting developments and successes across all companies within the Light Science Technologies Holdings group.

In each of our core divisions – Controlled Environment Agriculture, Contract Electronics Manufacturing and Passive Fire Protection – we’ve seen progress in existing projects, increasing market opportunities and a number of key appointments.

Controlled Environment Agriculture

Our leading companies within horticultural equipment and technology continue to enhance our offering both in the UK and overseas.

Light Science Technologies recently announced the appointment of ArgiLogiq as an exclusive distributor of their products in the growing market of South Africa. The partnership is to be the first of a number of territorial distributors to be established and announced over the coming months.

In addition, Light Science Technologies involvement in the industry-leading TRIP project has now progressed to field trials on three UK farms.

The TRIP (Transformative Reduced Input in Potatoes) project aims to develop methods to grow potatoes more sustainably with less fertiliser, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and energy. Other partners in the project include Bangor University, James Hutton Institute and Dyson Farming Research.

Light Science Technologies’ sensorGROW is helping analyse the conditions in which the potatoes are being grown and has even been enhanced to measure N2O emission from soil.

Also in our group, Tomtech have been promoting the full range of Light Science Technology solutions to UK growers, including the sensorGROW sensor and nurturGROW lighting.

And, despite June typically being the brightest month, Tomtech report that the wet and cool weather so far this year has resulted in increasing interest from UK farmers in growing under glass – and utilising greenhouse lighting in particular.

Contract Electronics Manufacturing

Within our electronics manufacturing division, UK Circuits have welcomed a new Business Development Manager to spearhead their acquisition of new clients.

With over 30 years’ experience, Sue Johnson has a track record of helping companies in electronics discover new opportunities. Her most recent role was as Area Sales Manager for an LED component and optoelectronic company.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the steps we can take in 2024 and feeling confident that Sue will play an important role in our success. Welcome to the team Sue!” said Marc Ellis, Managing Director of UK Circuits.

Sue herself has already noticed that the UK market is evolving, as brands are keen to find “partners, not just suppliers” and increasingly value the skills and reliability of British electronics manufacturers like UK Circuits.

Passive Fire Protection

Within our growing fire protection division, we’ve also welcomed a strategic appointment.

Shaun Tasker has over 20 years of experience in commercial management, sales, and operations, with a proven record overseeing high-revenue businesses and co-managing his own facilities management company.

He’s joined Injecta Fire Barrier as Managing Director to oversee its growing success helping make existing buildings safe by installing the unique Injectaclad passive fire barrier.

“I am thrilled to be working alongside our fantastic team to strengthen the Injecta Fire Barrier brand. With our current forward order book and an impressive pipeline of quoted sales, there is so much potential for growth” says Shaun.

Injecta Fire Barrier has recently won a substantial contract with a blue-chip client worth over £750,000 to install Injectaclad in an 11-storey student accommodation block in Nottingham.

An eight-person team will handle the installation, which involves drilling access holes through structural insulated timber panels and injecting the fire-retardant sealant into each floor level. The project has begun and is expected to be completed by December.
